Booting a SQA-5H Home Server from the USB
Recovery key
De-power the SQA-5H server
1. Take the USB boot key
2. Push the tab right around, so that it is pointing out of the back of the USB
key with the writing towards you.
3. Insert the USB key into a front USB port, so that the key is to the right of
the USB socket ie over HDD4 and HDD5, with the writing the correct way up so you
can read the words on the front of the USB card
4. Re-boot the SQA, and it will boot off the USB key
5. It will take approx 4-5 minutes for the SQA to be ready to receive the
restore image from the PC running the Restore DVD.
Restore the Server Image.
Trouble Shooting
If you find that the Restore Agent (DOS window) on a
PC can't find the Server (times out) - you may wish to check the USB key has
been correctly inserted into the SQA : (as above)
When booted from the USB key correctly (it takes 5
minutes), the LEDs on the front should be : Power Blinking RED Boot Constant RED
If this fails, it suggests that either there is a
fault with the SQA, your network or the boot key
You can check if the boot key has files on it, by
inserting it into a regular PC. The boot key should have 3x folder and 2x files
on it (incl BOOTMGR). If the files are missing or corrupt you can download a
toolset / image, to re-flash the USB key.
Please click
here to download the necessary files
If the LEDs are green / yellow as they are normally
when the unit has booted into Home Server, the system has NOT booted off the USB
key
We hope the above procedure assists you.
