Linux / large HDD / boot
Linux / large HDD / boot
Article
It appears that if you install Ubuntu to a large unpartitioned disk it defaults to a GPT type partition table (in particular I think if you are using the alternate CD for software RAID/encryption).
The Intel D510MO does not appear to support GPT type partition tables particularly well.
This message (http://communities.intel.com/message/79431) impiles that it should be possible - however I couldn't work out how to edit the boot flag on the protective MBR partition.
The problem can be avoided if you use MBR type partition tables and place a partition with the boot flag first.
